In the beginning was the word…

Logos wants to encourage students of Trinity Western University to explore how academic inquiry can enrich our inner lives, communities, and spiritual experiences.

We want to provide a platform for students to incorporate the whole person into their academic inquiry. While we highly respect traditional forms of academic expression, we believe there are already many places for it. We want this to be a space where primal, compassionate, embodied, expressions are welcome in the discourse.

We reject the notion that allowing for passion in our writing will lead us to bias. Instead, we believe that this intense interrogation of our personal emotions towards this topic will inevitably lead us to grapple with our perceptions which have to potential to inhibit our inquiry.

By engaging with our bias, we expose it.

Logos is also an experiment in community-based academia. When you agree to contribute to Logos, you agree to support others in their writing. After our content is produced, we gather to edit and discuss each other’s ideas. By engaging with each other face to face, we literally personify the “marketplace of ideas.”

The Word became Flesh and dwelt among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. — John 1. 1-14
